10 years ago David VanHamlin was inspired to write these lyrics from a painting that no longer resides in our rehearsal space(seized by the painter's sister) Sanjuro Fields couldn't quite agree on a flow so it went into the "come back to it later pile" For a decade Dave's lyrics kept haunting me as their relevance grew. Finally, with his blessing, I started working on a melody to include it in my solo set. After a few trials,I finally came up with this. Thank you Dave. Recorded on a single channel with 2 microphones.

And smokestacks spit their smoke
Empty dolls roll off the factory line
So unfunny it's a joke

Bloody fake evangelists
bank on hate and misery
With sharpened tongues they divide us up
They're carving turkeys for their feast

Now crowds of people crush the city streets
On either side of riot shields
And pepper spray is your pornography
WHEN YOU CAN EAT AND PAY YOUR BILLS

Well the morning's warnings dawns clearly
And the night's delights are worth the fall
